Objectives of the Position

The Associate position is responsible for driving the integration of Sustainability in the Market Area Middle East &Egypt in the various businesses to strengthen and support sales via sustainability-related customer projects. Supporting BU’s to act and scout for sustainability-based opportunities leveraging local presence, understanding, and translating market requirements into opportunities and influencing country sustainability framework.

Main Tasks:-

Use the sustainability topic to open doors for BASF at customers and support/enable the sales teams in “selling “sustainability as a differentiators
Represent BASF on different occasions such as conferences, exhibitions, lectures at universities and the political surroundings to sharpen the perception of a sustainable solution provider
Exchange with Global and European Sustainability team for know-how exchange and implementation of aligned processes – hot spot analysis, opportunity finding, sales and training
Developing and implementing modularized and targeted sustainability workshop offers based on customer needs
Collaborating and supporting local Industry Teams, LSM teams and Account Managers to drive customer-specific sustainability projects which contribute to achieving revenue goals
Develop customer Sustainability Development assessments and industry specific research aimed at identifying trends and drivers in the market. Create a delivery mechanism for sharing knowledge across the organization
Provide close alignment with other Operating Divisions on sustainability projects with customers that are (potential) customers for multiple Divisions
Provide regular reporting of progress on identified projects and business cases
Provide support/answer to the businesses on upcoming requests and customer questionnaires, supplier sustainability questionnaires
Sustainability Communication:

Organize quarterly info Webexs for local sales organizations
Create an internal “Sustainability Bulletin Board” that highlights BU specific stories/success on sustainability. Should not be limited to only emailing but also info meetings, TV screens etc.
Organize quarterly info / exchange Webex with OD/RBU SD representatives
In collaboration with COM, ensure a constant flow of external communication via FB, Twitter, media relations
Integrating sustainability into regional communication (e.g. product launches, trade shows) where appropriate
Organize (in collaboration with BUs and Service Platform) and host Sustainability focused events by inviting customer to BASF’s locations of relevance
Sustainability tracking:

Articulate customer value by demonstrating BASF’s sustainability competencies and linking SD assets to customer specific needs, local consumer trends and market-dynamics in specific value chains.
Actively address opportunities with customers in cooperation with Commercial Director
Create an information repository for sharing and obtaining specific customer insights from each customer case or relevant BU. This repository is to be used to track and communicate new and continued business supported by SD-related activities.
Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

Education: Education & training required

MS in business administration and similar

Working Experience:

At least 10 years Commercial, Sales & Marketing and Project Management experience, ideally within BASF within different functions
Technical, Professional Knowledge and Skills:

Strong entrepreneurial drive
Excellent communication skills
Ability to navigate in local culture and sustainability context
Highly proficient in BASF’s sustainability concepts and methods
Extensive knowledge of BASFs OD structure and drivers
Access to (BASF) internal and external networks
Working knowledge of environmental and social sustainability opportunities/challenges along key industry value chains.
Ability to build organizational alignment
IT skills:

BASF related tools
Language skills (level):

English (fluent), German (advantageous)
