The team:
The Infrastructure Engineering team supports the company’s fast growing Global Infrastructure by building and operating hyper-scale data centers as well as vastly distributed global edge networks. Regional Edge Strategy Manager, Europe focuses on supporting the execution of various strategic initiatives to help scale the EDGE infrastructure to support ByteDance products and services in Europe market.
Responsibilities:
Lead initiatives, by creating strategic roadmaps and identifying key locations to help grow the EDGE PoPs and connectivity capacity in Europe market and also facilitate the creation of 1/2/3 year EDGE infra strategic growth plans.
Develop strategic long-term relationships with DC providers and network operators.
Work closely with Capacity planning, Network Engineering, procurement, supply chain and other cross-functional teams to improve vendor pool and vendor diversity in the given markets.
Help in executing Partnership Strategy with key network and DC providers in Europe market.
Work closely with Legal and other cross-functional partners in driving Risk & Compliance study for entering into key markets and publishing the details on a monthly/ quarterly basis.
Participating in Industry events like NANOG, PTC, ITW etc. To build critical vendor relationships and support market research.
Support Capacity Planning and EDGE Engineering teams by helping in performing technical / compliance due diligence of vendors / partners. Example: IP transit provider, Peering relationships, Metro fiber, Subsea capacity, DC providers etc.
Support EDGE Infra readiness/build projects to support new workloads on EDGE infrastructure based on ByteDance product roadmap.
Participate in regular vendor Quaterly/Annual Business Reviews to support evaluating vendor Performance.
8+ years of Internet infrastructure experience, including technical and commercial knowledge of internet providers, Metro-fiber providers, Sub-sea providers, internet exchange points, datacenter providers etc…
Experience interpreting and negotiating contracts and other legal documents.
Hands on experience in driving infra strategy initiatives in building EDGE infra or CDN infrastructure.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in building long-term relationships.
Understanding technical business development aspects including: Infrastructure, market pricing, capacity availability and DC providers.
Bachelor’s degree or related work experience.
Understanding of IT Service Level Agreements, IT Standards, Procedures and Policies
Representing and participating in industry forums such as NANOG, RIPE, APRICOT, Capacity, PTC, ITW, etc.
