Lead Engineer
As Lead Engineer you will lead the delivery of Network transformation solutions via a set of services that analyze the customer’s network, identify the network solutions (Ciena and/or third party), and plan the integration/conversion requirements to meet the customer’s needs.
To accomplish this, you bring thoughtful knowledge to clients and will convey a keen understanding of Ciena’s complete value solutions across products and services, delivery, support, quality and expertise. In addition, you will help navigate the comprehensive challenges involved in the design and implementation of complex next generation networks. The role is located in Spain (remote/onsite).
The Contribution:
Understand Customer Requirements – Work closely with the customer and Ciena Account team to understand the customers technical requirement today and in the future….plan and prepare for future success.
Lead the services delivery – Working close to Network Engineers and Service Delivery Team, this role is responsible to own the end to end solution delivery including the support on engineering activities like Solution Principle, NMS installation & integration, DND generation, reconfiguration & migrations, SW Upgrades, deployment support. Oversee partner personnel who may be delivering a portion or all of the engineering package.
Focus on business outcome – Ensure the technical business outcome will fit with the customers requirements around their customers requirement’s.
Communication – Keep the customer continuously updated of technical status, issues and solutions.
Create emotional connection – Develop the relationship with the customer’s technical delivery team as somebody they trust and rely on.
Create technical advocates within the customers – Using the wider technical delivery team build trust with the customer and their team.
Speed – React and Communicate quickly to any Technical query’s.
Roles and Responsibilities:
o Visit 1 time per quarter customer webpage to be aware of their actual business status.
o Contact System Engineer 1 time each 2 months minimum to understand type of opportunities Ciena is working on for the franchise assigned
o Participate on RFQ or Service Quotes, specially complex ones, on demand.
o Participate on Trials/PoC identified for your franchise
o Contact Franchise team 1 time per month to review project forecast to identify team training requirements to be better prepared to handover Pre/Post PO.
o Contact Franchise Project Manager 1 time per month to review all projects status
o Ensure projects key documentation is uploaded in a dedicated folder/repository for customer assigned. (ie, Solution Principle, Network Diagram)
o Contact CTA 1 time per month to handover projects being completed or close to be completed
o Explore level of satisfaction related to CX question they will be asked in the next CSAT Survey
o Lead, define, implement, execute and support the delivery of services working closely and together with the Network Engineer, service partners and Service Delivery team.

Handle stressful situations during maintenance window activities and solve complex technical issues under the stress of time constraints.
Impeccable record of executing procedures on customers’ networks with no unplanned disruption to traffic
Problem solving down to the design level and then translating that back to Engineering for resolution
Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Assessment complex situations timely and accurately
Make decisions independently and execute those decisions
Confident, Self-Motivated and Customer Focused

Master’s Degree, preferred
8 – 10+ years telecommunications / industry experience in Sales Engineering or Product Management preferred
Fundamental understanding of what it takes to effectively support a complex, next generation telecommunication network
