Description & Requirements:-
The Head of External Manufacturing manages the external manufacturing team organized by technical platform heads. More specific responsibilities include:
- Establishes and delivers critical supply performance
- Negotiates critical contracts- including in-licensing- outsourcing- and overall business development evaluations
- Identifies quality / technical / business / EHS risks and related mitigation and corrective actions
- Establishes overall external network strategy- including local manufacturing in emerging countries as part of growth strategy
- Influences and leads without direct accountability to other critical department heads across the global supply chain- global manufacturing sciences- and external quality
- Will be the final business decision maker on all manufacturing sourcing decisions (new platforms- new CMOs- clinical and commercial production needs)
In addition to the above- you drive continuous improvement of the overall CMO business and operating structure- ensuring performance improvement- risk identification- and mitigation.
We are looking for:
Someone who will bring best-in-class leadership skills- a track record of attracting- developing- and managing talent- the ability to influence and obtain results through collaboration and diplomacy- an engaging and inspiring communication style- a strong bias for action- scientific credibility but with clear business understanding- showing a capacity to make decisions and drive forward including in ambiguous context or without all of the data- and the apparent capability to be promotable to a variety of future leadership roles.
- Bachelors/Master’s Degree (Supply- Quality- Engineering– Procurement)- additional competencies in Business Administration- Supply Chain- or related fields are a plus.
- Minimum ten years of experience in increasingly responsible roles in managing manufacturing or related activities in the FMCG- pharmaceutical- or biopharmaceutical sector.
- Experience managing outsourced activities- leading external manufacturing- or working for a CMO highly valued.
- A willingness to be located (or relocated) in the MEA region
