About the Role

Mott MacDonald is recruiting for a Renewables Engineer to join our Energy team. The work in our Energy unit is varied and includes due diligence studies (technical, contractual and financial) construction and operation monitoring, contractual reviews, contract negotiations, tendering, energy yield analysis, irradiation studies and feasibility studies.

We work as an integrated, global network, which provides the chance to work alongside internal and external professionals as part of a multidisciplinary project team giving you an understanding of projects from different technology perspectives

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:-

• Provide engineering inputs on projects from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility, due diligence, construction monitoring, acceptance, and operation monitoring.
• Working on integrated renewable energy systems projects
• Reviewing and preparing technical and non-technical reports including specifications, proposals, designs, calculations and contracts.
• Provide technical tender support, actively assisting with business development, bids preparation and client management.
• Provide support and mentoring to the wider team in the delivery of Renewable & Battery Storage project work. To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
• Techno-economic modelling skill
• Appreciation of project risk and mitigation
• Appreciation of commercial sphere of project work including contract terms
• IT and standard industry software skills, including hands-on knowledge of BIM (if applicable) and other digital platforms
• Continuously looking for innovations and improvements to manage workload and accomplish deliverables across teams and projects
• Using interpersonal skills to build and nurture relationships and also creating effective working environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good report writing, presentation, analytical and computer skills
• Able to manage/collaborate with multiple teams with diverse backgrounds on geographically and culturally diverse teams

• Previous experience in electrical infrastructure projects as Owner’s Engineer, Lender’s Engineer or similar role
• Engineering background (with a specialism in Power or Electrical Engineering)
• Experience in related areas such as demand side response, or renewables
• Experience of working in renewable energy consultancy with extensive experience in wind and solar energy projects
• Experience of working in battery energy storage systems or related specialism such as distribution network design/renewable network design
• Experience in conducting due diligence and/or owner’s engineer assignments
• Project management skills
• Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
• Sharp analytical skills and ability to present quantitative knowledge to non-experts
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent report writing and communication skills in English
• Preparedness to travel worldwide on short business assignments
