Post Fixture Operator – Dry / Breakbulk Cargo Shipments – Dubai UAE

ORI has partnered with an international up-and-coming shipbroking house who have abundant connections and strong industry presence in MEA.
They are looking to expand their already diverse and dynamic team; with a new Post Fixture Operative (Dry) to be based in their prominent Dubai JLT offices.
As a Post Fixture Operative you will be responsible for vessel scheduling and voyage planning, which includes giving arrival notices both at load and discharge ports.
This position would suit someone who has experience in chartering and is highly organised.
You will be based at the company’s JLT, Dubai offices and will work as part of a team; involved in daily contact with external agencies such as ports and HM Customs.
Good communication skills are essential in this role. You will also have experience dealing with various dry bulk commodities for example; aggregates, coal, grain, fertilisers, pig iron, salt, scrap, sugar, and steel products.
Job description;
You will ideally come from a Broker / Owner shop and have direct experience with dry / breakbulk cargo shipments. [1 – 4 years ideally].
In this role you will liaise directly with chartering and shipping companies ; responsible for voyage planning, including giving arrival notices both at load and discharge ports.
You will request Bills of Lading instructions, check stowage plans for accuracy and feasibility, ensuring that relevant information is passed to interested parties who require the information to ensure smooth operation.
Knowledge of commercial shipping documentation such as BLs, CPs etc and terms is essential.
Co-ordination and follow up’s between captains, ship owners, agents and stevedores in loading and discharging ports.
Working with cargo operations will also involve calculating fees e.g. port disbursements and settlements, as well as freight cost estimations for customers.
Previous experience with post fixtures on vessels that are involved in carriage of multiple charterers cargoes [Also known as Parceling] Alternately someone with an agency [ship agents] background who has handled / worked on commercial documentation and vessel husbandry could be considered
Apart from the basic induction and introductions to charterers; We would expect the recruit to be able to hit the ground running with no training required.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills ( in English), as well as customer service finesse as this role requires daily conversation and communication with charterers.
Key skills and qualifications:
Solid background from Post Fixture/ Voyage accounting
Experience in laytime/demurrage calculations
Strong organisational skills are a key requirement of this position and the ability to file correspondence.
Can be relocated from another country, however easier if you are already based in UAE.
Applicants should be educated to a high standard.
Strong, analytical, communication, and computer skills required – You must have a high level of understanding of Microsoft office
Experience working in a multi-national team environment
