Role ;-

The Professional Development Coach supports three main areas: Coaching, Talent Development and Partner Challenges (projects students work on in partnership with mentor organizations focusing on real world challenges) program support. They are an integral part of the student life team. They focus on keeping students on track through partner challenges, serve as a touch point for support and also prepare students for the workforce.

Partner Challenges Program Support  :-

• Creating/Managing Team agreements – Divide tasks, positions within the team
• Allocating teams to specific Partners (organizations) and corresponding Mentors where appropriate
• Group Coaching (meeting student groups 1-3x per semester)
• Conflict Resolution – support teams in navigating through conflict
• Team dynamics – support teams in setting up healthy team dynamics for a positive working relationship
• Creating Active Learning opportunities – designing activities that match to program LO’s that allow students to apply their learning
• Time Management
• Leadership Skills
• Feedback sessions on final Partner Challenge presentations

Talent Development ;-

• Professional Branding
• LinkedIn – supporting students to create professional profiles and use the tool
• Job/internship application support
• Networking skills – encouraging students to connect with mentors and peers
• Interview skills
• Developing skills and competencies for the future workforce
• CV Writing
• Email communication (Professional writing)
• Feedback models – how to give and receive effective feedback
• Managing ONCE program hires, develop interview process

Coaching :-

• Guides students through journey, helps students set personal and professional goals
• Provides one on one sessions
• Conflict Resolution – supports students in taking steps to resolve conflict within teams
• Verbal Contracting – develop students’ ability to clearly outline expectations with Partner challenge team
• Intentional decision making
• Feedback models – how to give and receive effective feedback
• Manage ‘At Risk’ students – provide them extra guidance, create student accountability
• Personal development – support students in discovering their personal values

Competencies/Skills:

● Curiosity, learning agility and highly flexible/adaptable

● Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and able to communicate with different types of audiences and tailoring your communication to them (e.g. corporate management, undergraduate students, faculty)

● Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for student development

● High emotional intelligence; able to empathize with others and can handle other people’s stress and patience in dealing with diverse perspectives.

● Inter-cultural sensitivity. Working and/or interest in knowing about the UAE

● A demonstrated ability to work well in small teams, and able to do things outside their job description to support the team

● Skills in program design, facilitation, and management

● Arabic language skills highly desirable

Requirements :-

● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Psychology, HR, Behavioural Sciences, Counselling/Adult Education etc.)

● Coaching Qualification (e.g. ICF PCC) from an accredited body (equivalent to 500 coaching hours)

● Extensive experience with career/professional development coaching and ideally working with students/youth/young adults and/or within an educational setting.

● Experience with group coaching, facilitation and program design and delivery.

● Career Coaching/Counselling training/certification desirable.

● Psychometric certifications related to career development desirable.

Location: We prefer those based in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
