Finance Director MET
Role summary
• The role will lead the Finance function for MET and business partner with the key MET stakeholders to develop and grow profitable commercial relationships and achieve business goals. As well as working with the global teams, the role will directly support the MET business.
• The role will be to provide performance management through financial & management reporting and monitoring periodic performance, trends, profitability and opportunities. The role has responsibility for commercial and decision support to the MET business, as well as responsible for the monthly reporting, forecasting and budget processes. This role will also be responsible for the Annual Financial accounts.
• The role requires a high level of commercial awareness with ability to influence stakeholders, together with managing financial disciplines and process. The role requires a high level of commercial and operational experience, with an ability to influence, and co-ordinate activities across the region.
Key account abilities:-
A key member of the MET team, providing commercial insight and working in partnership with the business to add value through:
• Business case preparation and coordination, along with ad-hoc project support.
• The structure and management of working capital within the MET region.
• Key contract negotiations for MET.
• Establishing and monitoring appropriate commercial and operational KPIs with particular focus on customer and channel profitability, and cash flow generation.
• Working with the MET leadership team to monitor and communicate periodic performance, trends, profitability and opportunities.
• Identify and appraise investment and strategic development initiatives within the MET business.
• Representing Finance in board meetings updating the Directors and JV partners.
• Working with other finance teams – Shared Services, Treasury, Tax and Group Finance to:
➢ Help to ensure month-end processes are effective with appropriate financial controls.
➢ Using commercial experience together with a sound knowledge of the business to help drive the MET agenda.
➢ Supporting a matrix structure and working with multiple stakeholders.
Monthly financial reporting for the MET businesses:
• Provide finance support through monthly performance reviews for the businesses – to monitor and challenge, ensuring financials are accurate and produced on a timely basis.
• Working with regional finance teams to develop reporting insights to meet the evolving needs of the business with focus on KPIs and providing clarity around performance drivers.
Budgeting, forecasting, Annual Financial accounts and governance for the MET business:
• Work with the business to deliver robust budget and re-forecasting processes, in line with group targets and timeframes, and to ensure appropriate challenge through bottom-up reviews.
• Responsible for the timely preparation and submission of the annual Financial accounts for all MET Entities
• Delivery of local Tax obligations, ensuring alignment with the global Tax team and also a key part of the local Finance team and broader business.
• Delivery of relevant regulatory reports together with the Travelex Compliance team.
• Ensure group governance requirements are embedded across the MET business. Design and embed local governance and controls procedures as appropriate.
Experience and personal qualities:-
Experience should include:
• An appreciation of complex, high volume, international business operations.
• Matrix reporting and accountability.
• Presentation and communication skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
• Working closely with business leaders to hit targets and deliver innovative solutions.
• A commercial approach with ability to coach and influence decisions.
• Detailed knowledge of business drivers, KPIs, with a keen attention to detail.
Key skills:
• A flexible, dynamic, and positive approach, with excellent business partnership skills.
• Ability to work across organisational boundaries
• Tenacity, drive, the ability to operate and make key decisions effectively in a demanding environment
• The ability to manage teams to deliver, recognising the need to develop, motivate and empower whilst maintaining pace and juggling priorities
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to apply solid commercial judgment
• Comprehensive attention to detail with the ability to articulate key performance drivers.
• Able to provide constructive challenge.
• A willingness to get into the detail, coupled with experience and skills to work with remote teams in support of the MET businesses.
• Qualified accountant (ACA or CIMA).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised and to tight deadlines.
• Strong relationship building skills, being able to liaise effectively with both finance and non-finance professionals.
